AMANDA BARRETT holds the degrees Bachelor of Science in Music Education and Master of Arts in Flute Performance from Bob Jones University.

An Associate Professor of Music at BJU for 37 years, she maintained a vigorous private flute studio with students ranging from young beginners to senior citizens. Her studio produced numbers of college students accepted at prestigious graduate schools who now hold doctorates, and her junior high students have been winners at both State and Regional MTNA Competitions. In addition, her students often win first- and second-chair seats at Regional and All-State Band Auditions.

Professionally, Amanda remains an active musician. Co-founder of the South Carolina Flute Society, Amanda has served as President, Vice-President, and Board Member-at-Large. She is currently serving as Treasurer of the organization. Amanda also coordinated Tadeu Coelho’s Inspiration and Praise Flute Master Class for nine years.

As a performer, she appears as studio flutist for audio and film recordings on the Unusual Films, SoundForth, BJU Press, Majesty Music, The Wilds and other private recording labels. Amanda has served as adjudicator for numerous competitions. Amanda’s conducting experience includes leading flute choirs at the National Flute Association Convention, Bob Jones University, South Carolina Flute Society events, and at the Inspiration and Praise Flute Master Class. She has appeared as workshop clinician at the National Flute Association Convention, South Carolina Flute Society Festivals, and the Florida Flute Convention. An avid researcher, Amanda has discovered and re-introduced out-of-print musical gems, her findings appearing in the Flutist Quarterly. Amanda also enjoys playing Native American flute and penny whistle.
