In addition to a successful classical performance career, she has toured churches throughout the United States as sacred composer, arranger, solo pianist and soprano soloist. Susan holds the degrees Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance and Pedagogy (4.0 average) from The University of Oklahoma, and the Master of Music and Bachelor of Music degrees in Piano Performance with honors from Bob Jones University. Her students are successful international piano competition laureates, doctoral graduates of leading conservatories, performing/recording artists, and published composers and teachers who chair university music departments and direct ministries around the globe.
An expert in the musics of Richard Cumming, Andrzej Dutkiewicz, and Ronaldo Miranda, Dr. Kindall is a passionate advocate of the piano music of living composers. Her most recent world premiere, Ronaldo Miranda’s Festpielmüsik for Two Pianos & Percussion with members of the Greenville Symphony and BJU music faculty, is considered by the composer to be the definitive performance of that work to date. Dr. Kindall is an official observer by invitation of both the bi-annual Hilton Head International Piano Competition on Hilton Head Island, and the XVI International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, Poland celebrating the 200th anniversary of Chopin’s birth. She has accepted repeated invitations as National Group Discussion Leader at the National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy Pre-Conference Seminar for Collegiate Piano Pedagogy Teachers in Chicago. Dr. Kindall is currently touring as a performing member of the Kindall-Nitsch Piano Duo with award-winning American pianist, Paul Nitsch.
Having nurtured musicians for over 35 years, Dr. Kindall has served on the staff of Interlochen Arts Camp, as a graduate teaching assistant at The University of Oklahoma, and taught on the artist faculties of Csehy Summer School of Music, Ouachita Baptist University, and Bob Jones University—where she installed the Master of Music in Piano Pedagogy degree. Winner of the OMTA Graduate Piano Competition, her numerous awards include the Gail Boyd diStwolinski Award for outstanding service to OU School of Music and the President’s Club Partner Award for outstanding service to BJU. Susan Kindall remains dedicated to the success of her students, both spiritually and musically. She is honored to serve as Founder and Director of Majesty Music Academy.
